Monterey Pop Festival  aus: WORLDS OF MUSIC

Das Rockfestival in Monterey, Kalifornien wurde von John Phillips, Lou Adler und Derek Taylor geplant. Vom 16. Juni bis zum 18. Juni 1967 traten u.a. Jimi Hendrix, Otis Redding, The Who, Janis Joplin, Blood, Sweat & Tears, Electric Flag, The Butterfield Blues Band, Canned Heat, Eric Burdon and the New Animals, Jefferson Airplane, The Byrds und Ravi Shankar vor mehr als 200.000 Besuchern auf. Monterey gilt als Beginn der "Flower Power"-Bewegung in der Musik.
