Der 1963 als Georgios Kyriacos Panayiotou in London geborene Pop-Sänger hatte mit Wham! Anfang der 1980er Jahre erste Erfolge (u.a. "Careless Wisper", "Wake me up before you go-go", "Last Christmas"). 1986 veröffentlichte Michael sein erstes Soloalbum "Faith". 1993 erschien "Five Live", bei dem er mit Brian May, John Deacon und Roger Taylor u.a. "Killer/Papa was a Rolling Stone" und "Somebody to love" interpretiert. "Songs From The Last Century" (1999) versammelte Coverversionen von Swing-Klassikern des wie "Brother, can you spare a dime" und "My baby just cares for me" (Nina Simone).
