Swallow,Steve aus: WORLDS OF MUSIC

Der US-amerikanische Jazz-Bassist und Komponist wurde 1940 in New York geboren. Swallow studierte in Yale Literatur und Komposition. Mit Paul und Carla Bley ging er Anfang der 1960er Jahre nach New York, wo er mit dem Jimmy Giuffre Trio arbeitete und vom Kontrabass zum E-Bass wechselte. Seitdem zählt er zu den einflussreichsten Musikern des Jazz: Swallow spielte u.a. mit Stan Getz, Gary Burton, Dizzy Gillespie, Michael Brecker, George Benson, John Scofield und Herbie Hancock.
